How do I refuel a Peacock Hand Warmer?
I have an antique Hakkin Peacock Hand Warmer, one that says “made in occupied Japan” on it.
The burner looks like it is brand new.
My research on the Hakkin hand warmer instructs me to remove the burner to refuel the hand warmer. Beneath the burner is a bunch of cotton like fluff inside where it looks like the fuel should go.
What do I need to do to refuel the warmer?
Do I need to remove the fluff, or pour the fuel into the fluff or what?
Any advice would be appreciated.
No, you pour the fuel directly into the cotton mesh. You use a fuel such as “sterno” which is commonly used for fondue pots. This is readily available at many grocery stores or one stop shopping such as Fred Meyer, Walmart, etc.
