Hand Quilting?

I’ve been working on this thing for about two years. I hand embroidered all the squares and now I’m adding the quilting stitches. But it seems off center. What should I do?

It would help if you could let us know the steps you took before starting to quilt your project.

When I quilt something (by hand or machine) I first put the backing (which is cut larger than the top you’ve been working on) face down and (if it’s very large) pin the outside edges to my carpet to make sure there are no puckers, ruffles etc. Then I smooth the batting over this and last put the quilt top, right side up on top, smoothing it out evenly. I then start pinning about a fist width from the center out and if you’ve done all of those steps carefully, there should be no distortion.
When you have the project in a quilting hoop make sure you’re not pulling your project on the bias of the fabric, because this can cause distortion as well. Hope my answer helped. It’s kinda hard trying to explain the process, without having more information or a visual of your project.
