my new radio was installed now my key chain unlocker doesn’t work as well as my interrior light before startup
i installed a new cd player in my friends car, cut, crimped, and insulated all wires on the wiring harness (all wires match) and placed the new cd player back into the dashboard, now when he opens the door his interrior lights do not light up, but the radio powers up. also his key chain remote unlocker device does not work unless the car is on….what happened and how do i fix it?
In new cars all of those functions go through the factory radio. They make adapters, depending on the vehicle, that allows you to either place the factory radio somewhere else to maintain those functions or a unit that replaces the factory radio for those functions. They cost around $100.00 and for $50-75 someone will install it professionally to ensure it is correct. In addition to that the engine Diagnostic Trouble Codes will not be able to be read by a mechanic so if the car beaks without that adapter it can lead to an expensive repair bill so it is highly suggested to shell out the money now.
